As a Correctional Counselor you will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling sessions. This position is also responsible for developing individualized comprehensive treatment plans for an assigned caseload of residents following company policies/procedures and Bureau of Prisons (BOP)
contractual obligations and in accordance with American Correctional Association (ACA).

Responsibilities:
-Provides individual and group counseling sessions;
-Plays a key role in maintaintgand enhancing the security of the unit and institution
-Keeps complete case records on each program participant;
-Makes appropriate recommendations regarding inmate program participation;
-Interfaces with necessary individuals and family members;
-Provides follow-up services to caseload;
-Communicates all pertinent information to the Unit Manager;
-Overall responsibility for unit sanitation
-Assigns offender jobs - ensures pay records are complete
-Ensures Financial Responsibility Programs are complete and meet criteria
-Ensures Administrative Remedy investiations are complete and meet timelines
-Checks to ensure complete entries are made in all logbooks and records
-Completes daily and/or weekly inspections and reportsCoordinates weekly review with Unit Manager;
-Attends weekly assigned meetings

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, preferred. Major course work in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field, preferred. Each year of full-time wage earning experience in the following fields may be substituted on a year for year basis with 30 hours of college credit: police officer, mental health counselor in a residential facility, or detention/correctional officer.

-Knowledge of counseling principles, practices, applicable state and federal laws, rules,
regulations and statutes.
-Knowledge in coordinating matters pertaining to inmate personal property and trust fund activities and involvement in offender Intake Screening Process and the Administrative Remedy process
-Experience in demonstrating knowledge of insitution policies on sanitation and security
-Knowledge of offender treatment principles, methods, techniques, and practices in correctional rehabilitation programs preferred.
-Skill in interviewing and communicating ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

Must also possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
