Under the supervision of the Director of the Community & Economic Development Department, performs professional management of urban redevelopment and economic development projects including business recruitment, retention and redevelopment activities along the City's Commercial Corridors. This task will be carried out in coordination with various City Departments. Assigns, supervises and coordinates tasks and work program activities; provides policy direction and manages work processes and schedules; develops program goals and objectives.

The Requirements:
Masters degree in planning, public administration, urban studies, business administration, real estate development or related field and five (5) or more years urban planning or related experience demonstrating increasingly responsible experience handling complex community redevelopment or development projects in challenged communities; or Bachelor's degree in planning, public adminstration or related field and seven (7) or more years redevelopment or related experience; or an equivalent combination or training and experience. At least three (3) years of supervisory or project management experience required. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

The Examination:
Depending on the number of applicants and the quality of their education and experience, the examination may consist of one or more of the following tests: Evaluation of Training and Experience, Oral Interview, Written Examination, or other assessment method. Applicants must attain a minimum score of 70 in each part of the examination in order to qualify. All successful applicants will be required to pass a medical examination, which may include a drug screening, prior to appointment. An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive examination shall receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Florida Statutes. To obtain veteran's preference, candidates MUST submit a copy of separation papers (DD214) and meet eligibility requirements as stipulated by the Florida Statues.
