Reporting to the Manager of Business Profitability the Cost Accountant maintains cost accounting records including cost data files, cost of sales, cost of production and engineering change notices, bills of material, direct labor and overhead rate tables, operating cost factors and item coding. Compiles, analyzes, summarizes, classifies and records manufacturing cost data for products, parts and materials. Assist with the monthly financial close process ensuring accurate financial statements.
The select candidate will be responsible for:
Ensuring the integrity of all cost data within ERP, including purchase costs for components, outside service costs, labor rates and overhead rates
Managing the process for annual production cost update, routinely analyzes purchase price variances and provides variance explanations, and assist with Engineering Change Notice process ensuring that correct procedures in constructing and processing notices are being met.
Ensuring proper accounting treatment for excess and obsolete material and assist with disposition plans.
Coordinating annual physical inventory count process.
Assisting with monthly close process. Prepares journal entries to accrue or adjust account balances.
Maintaining, analyzing and reconciling vendor scrap.
Calculating and maintaining LIFO reserves.
Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field of study; Working toward CPA/CMA/MBA is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in manufacturing.
Interpret data, recommend action and prepare statements and reports applying generally accepted accounting principles.
Design, modify and maintain reports for analysis and review.
Perform routine and detailed work and establish self checking routines.
Work with a minimum of supervision on a variety of assignments with varying degrees of difficulty.
Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite is greatly desired
Knowledgeable of general accounting principles and standard costing.
