The Finance Department is looking for a highly motivated individual who is interested in joining their team as a Cost Accountant. This position is Salary Exempt and will be reporting to the Finance Department Leader.

Recommended Qualifications
  • 2-4 years experience in standard Cost Accounting, Tooling Accounting, Inventory Reconciliation and Analysis
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Business or Accounting preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with integrated financial manufacturing software packages, SAP preferred
  • Must have good problem solving skills
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Must have a good working knowledge of a standard cost system, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Must be able to pay good attention to detail
  • Computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as required to meet company needs
  • Ability to work in stressful situations
  • Ability to meet deadlines
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures
  • Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies and Employee’s Charter
  • Maintain the standard cost system to generate accurate product costs/inventory values and meaningful variance analysis. Understand the reason for the cost change, and obtain authorization for cost changes
  • Analyze and forecast material costs that are not included in the standard cost
  • Maintain the material cost amounts in our customer quoted piece price vs actual material costs and accrue for customer exposure adjustments
  • Assist in supporting and understanding material cycle counts and production/crib physical inventory taking
  • Track and explain all plant scrap costs including issuing monthly scrap share invoices to our vendors
  • Reconcile and explain changes to all inventory and tooling related balance sheet accounts
  • Make recommendations and be involved in an ongoing continuous improvement process, and assist others on improvement ideas as required
  • Report monthly cost of poor quality
  • Handle tooling accounting and reporting including inventory, sales, receivables, monthly F6 report and working capital forecasting. Track and load tooling picture status in customer database for invoicing. Obtain invoice approvals and issue checks to tooling vendors. Complete finance portion of self audits prior to invoicing. Provide supporting documents for customer tooling audits. Lead monthly F6 review meetings.
  • Maintain selling prices in SAP, including obtaining approvals for changes
  • Issue the quarterly currency hedge analysis and track hedging activity
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual business plan, quarterly forecasts and monthly forecasts
  • Assist in the completion of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations and the year-end audit file
  • Satisfy all Sarbanes-Oxley documented finance process requirements for the position
  • Assist finance dept when other finance team members are out of the office
  • Perform other duties as required
