*1. Maintains and analyzes cost records to ascertain distribution costs for various divisions of management/plant and production. Classifies labor, material, and overhead costs to compute unit cost of product or service. Computes cost value of work-in-process (WIP) for inventory purposes.
*2. Assists with the implementation of Serta mandatory product specifications. Maintains computerized cost accounting system and related hard copy documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Remains current on all product requirements; receives, analyzes and communicates new and revised specifications. Prepares cost analysis, internal documentation and makes recommendations.
*3. Analyzes actual costs versus standard costs and prepares reports of variances. Works with Group Merchandising and Manufacturing/Sourcing personnel in the preparation of new or proposed product costs estimations. Prepares standard and ad hoc reports as needed.
*4. Implements programs, systems, methods, plans and procedures, including supplier rebate programs, for effective management and control of the materials costs. Analyzes programs and makes recommendations for new or discontinued tick or specs as needed.
*5. Organizes, controls and authorizes tick and sku numbers for the Centralized Standard Cost System, working with the Director of Merchandising to ensure a current and accurate System. Assists the Director with the implementation of new tick and sku’s for National and Regional Accounts, and notifies the Director of any requested changes in tick and special specs. Assists with the control of discontinued tick inventory.
*6. Coordinates the schedule of physical inventories, and audits the physical inventory process at the Plants. Works closely with Plant Controllers and other internal contacts to verify results and reconcile book to physical inventory values.
*7. Manages the fixed asset record keeping process. Maintains centralized fixed asset system, ensuring accurate and proper recording and classification of all assets and all fixed asset transfers. Prepares and/or assists with the preparation of Schedule M analysis and fixed asset depreciation records for tax returns.
*8. Fosters positive internal working relationships. Works effectively and proactively across all functional areas including in order to effectively carry out the duties of the position.
*9. Establishes and maintains various accurate databases, files and other records using various software applications and/or hard copy. Establishes, organizes and maintains confidential files. Prepares, distributes and/or presents various standard and ad hoc reports; researches and creates presentations; monitors regular report data/results for trends and makes appropriate recommendations or notifications.
*10 Attends various internal meetings as well as internal external training programs and maintains current knowledge of industry trends. Serves as a member of various professional organizations and represents the Company to external contacts as needed.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
2. Minimum of 3-5 years in product manufacturing cost analysis or related accounting experience.
3. Demonstrated ability to analyze data with combined business acumen that includes breadth of technology experience, financial controls and manufacturing expertise
4. Advanced spreadsheet and database software skills; intermediate word processing and beginner powerpoint software skills
1. Masters in Accounting, Business or related field.
2. Knowledge and understanding of such related fields as business law, statistics, and general management
3. Experience working with international markets includes Canada.
