County Coordinators, Project Hope
Salary: Grade 25
Salary: $77,931
Location Pay: $3,026

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is seeking to fill two (2) full-time salaried positions to serve as County Coordinators for Project Hope.

Project Hope is a program that provides free crisis counseling services to persons, families, and groups most affected by Hurricane Sandy. Project Hope is funded by the Federal Emergency and Management Agency (FEMA) and is administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in conjunction with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the RFMH. These positions will be located in the departments of Mental Health in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The incumbents will report to the Director of Community Services. This is a grant-funded position. The initial grant period will run through December 29, 2012, with an anticipated total duration of one (1) year.

DUTIES

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing all components and activities of the Crisis Counseling Program including supervising staff in the respective county
  • Overseeing analysis and reporting of county CCP data to assist with program oversight and monitoring
  • Providing leadership and oversight for funded activities of provider agencies contracted through the CCP to ensure they meet program goals and objectives and reporting requirement
  • Overseeing provision of technical assistance related to the CCP to provider agencies contracted through the CCP through the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator(s) assigned to the county
  • Collaborate with State Media on development of media materials
  • Collaborate with other City, State and Federal agencies to promote the Crisis Counseling Program goals, objectives and activities as indicated
  • Maintain awareness of current and planned initiatives, and activities related to crisis counseling in the context of emergency response to a natural disaster
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements/ Preferred Skills:
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or other relevant graduate degree from an accredited college or university, and four (4) or more years relevant work experience; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, or other relevant degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) or more years relevant work experience.
  • Experience responding to a disaster of similar scale, understanding of policy, understanding of local mental health and local government structure and network
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations, as well as honor contributions and strengths of all cultures
  • Ability to manage people and resolve conflict
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work in an unpredictable environment
  • Experience with creation and management of budget and grant processes
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills required
  • Excellent written, oral and organizational skills
