Job Description The City of Baytown is seeking a disciplined and highly organized individual to direct the behind the scenes functions of the Municipal Court. The opportunity in Baytown awaits to develop and lead a talented court team in the daily administration of the court of records.

JOB SUMMARY AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES: This is an exciting and rewarding position with the City of Baytown, part of the dynamic Sugarland/Houston/Baytown metropolis acknowledged as one of America’s top 5 regions for jobs. The purpose of the Court Administrator is to manage the daily operation of the Baytown Municipal Court and the Marshal’s office. Successful operation is accomplished by managing and maintaining cases, directing court employees and overseeing the preparation of dockets. This role directs and monitors all operations of the Municipal Court to ensure efficient operation in the areas of collections, dockets, warrants and records retention. The Court Administrator is also responsible for personnel management, revenue collection, customer service, budget preparation and monitoring, policy development and interpretation as well as contract administration.

SALARY: $52,080 – $78,120/annually (DOQ)

Qualifications REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three years experience in a Court environment with progressive management and supervisory responsibilities.
  • TMCEC Level II certification.
  • Must have TLETS/TCIC/NCIC certification and Justice Information Management System Certification within one (1) year of hire date.
  • Must be bondable and able to become a notary. Must be able to pass the City’s criminal background check.
  • Advance computer processing skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Working knowledge of INCODE, Brazos Technology, and similar Court software applications.

    SALARY: $70,042 – $105,063/annually (DOQ)
