Craftsman Helper Trainee (Mechanic) is responsible for assisting the 1 st Class Craftsman in the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of engines, compressors, and all other equipment and will assist in overhauls, vehicle maintenance, and construction as well as other duties as assigned by management.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards
· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
· Under the general guidance of area supervision or a 1 st class craftsman, the craftsman helper trainee will be responsible for operation and maintenance of high pressure natural gas engines, compressors, dehydration equipment, natural gas liquids removal plant and related facilities
· Will assist in overhauls, construction projects, routine maintenance on compression equipment, vehicles and related natural gas equipment
· Must demonstrate the ability to learn complex compressor control systems, gas system operations and procedures
· Some travel may be required
· Lifting of 50 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds occasionally and various other physical activities in a variety of weather extremes and occasional exposure to various chemicals required
· Required to ride snowmobiles and 4 wheelers occasionally
· Must respond to call outs and live within 30 minutes of the Mainline #1 facility
· All duties must be performed in accordance with all OSHA, DOT, and NorthWestern Energy safety rules, policies, and procedures.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS · Must be able to demonstrate a good safety and driving record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Knowledge through experience or training in the maintenance and overhaul of gas compressors, dehydration equipment, NGL plants, and related equipment
· Must demonstrate the self-motivation required to work alone, as well as take direction and work well with others
· Must have safety awareness and a positive safety attitude
· Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License to operate pick-ups, 4-wheelers and snowmobiles
· Successful applicant is required under DOT rules to drug testing.
· Must successfully complete a training program consisting of classroom and on the job training and have the skills to become a Craftsman 1 st Class, as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
