Job Description:

The Gymboree Corporation Creative Director is the creative visionary for all Gymboree Brands – Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Crazy 8 and Shade. S/he will be responsible for the creative development across retail stores, print and direct mail. The Creative Director needs to balance a strong creative vision with business strategy. They should be a great leader and a positive motivator that possesses strong communication skills. They should be equally comfortable collaborating with peers and executive partners, as well as rolling up their sleeves and diving in to creative work. S/he must be experienced in managing, leading and developing creative teams and collaborating with the visual team and cross function business partners.

The ideal candidate will partner with the VP of Creative Services and lead and manage the design team to develop Seasonal Campaigns for all brands. S/he will develop creative standards for all brands and provide seasonal creative inspiration that delivers innovative and fresh execution. This will include the design and development of all window and in-store seasonal presentations, events and promotions. S/he will partner directly with the visual team to develop integrated creative solutions to enhance the customer experience and drive traffic. S/he will concept with the Photo Art Directors to develop seasonal brand imagery for all brands and work closely with the creative team to concept and lead all photography from concept through execution. S/he will lead the development of all product photography standards for both on-figure and lay down requirements, manage the photo budget for all brands and partner with the Brand Management and Production Team to allocate resources effectively and manage workflow and allow for strong creative output. They will work with business partners to understand business strategies and goals to ensure that creative deliverables meet the objectives of these business goals. S/he will also partner with Marketing and the Copy Director to evaluate the best ways to deliver brand building and traffic driving stories to the customers. They must stay connected to customer feedback in order to make appropriate adjustments to enhance the customer experience and drive business.They will help create a culture of team pride, team spirit, high standards, and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the ability to inspire, manage and develop creative talent. They will be able to develop and communicate a creative vision to both the creative team and business partners. They must have strong interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to be decisive and flexible when collaborating with cross-functional business partners. They must possess a strong sense of urgency and purpose in a fast pace environment. S/he must be passionate about building strong brands. They must have a strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with exceptional project management skills. They must possess a Bachelors degree or higher and have at least 10+ years experience in design or creative fields in fashion, retail and or advertising environment.
