Rock Creek Strategic Marketing is a 25-year-old branding, strategy, and communications agency based just outside of Washington, D.C. in Chevy Chase, MD. We provide award-winning print, mobile, and interactive solutions to the government, nonprofit, and commercial markets. We are currently looking for a seasoned Creative Director to join our group. Our creative team rocks, and we want you to be a part of it!
We need someone with passion, integrity, and positive energy. You should have agency experience (ideally working with the government), and be able to successfully manage a team and the design process from concept to completion. You’ll be providing direction to the creative group so that the environment, culture, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations, work style, and other elements not only support but also exceed Rock Creek’s strategic goals and brand.

Organization and great communication skills are essential. You should have the ability to effectively storyboard to the team and help them develop innovative solutions.
Work with the team to prioritize workflow and ensure that all projects are delivered on schedule.
Be able to identify opportunities for growth and development for the team and the company as a whole.
Have great presentation skills, as you’ll serve as a thought leader in print and interactive design for Rock Creek, including representing the company at internal and external meetings and events as applicable.
Must possess a thorough understanding of design, ranging from print to interactive and motion, design project trafficking, as well as industry best practices.
Other required skills:
10+ years of professional experience in graphic design, ideally in an agency environment collaborating with multiple functional areas and disciplines such as project/account management, user experience, marketing strategy, copywriting, and technology.
Strong track record managing projects and delivering compelling design.
Experience hiring, supervising, training, and managing a team (5+) of designers.
Experience with Mac and Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge of Drupal a plus.
Creative writing experience is a plus.
BA in relevant field preferred.
