POSITION PURPOSE -
This position notifies customers of delinquent accounts to solicit payment and will also review credit data and reports as needed to assess overall risk of commercial accounts receivable. Duties include receiving payments and posting the amount to customers account; keeping records of collection activities and status of their assigned accounts. This position initiates the handling of deductions as requested by commercial customers and reviews accounts for invoice and contention offsets. It is also responsible for resolving customer complaints and/or complex credit related issues. This position also prepares documentation to issue credit to new and existing commercial customers within approved SOP. It will also review credit data and reports as needed to assess overall risk. Responsible for review and approval of requests from the sales team for extension of credit to existing customers on credit hold or who have exceeded their established credit limit. Duties include communication with collection team and with sales team regarding decisions on requests for credit extension.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
  • 20% Contact commercial customers with past due balances to solicited payment, using month end aging provided at the beginning of each fiscal period.
  • 20% Review past due accounts for chargebacks, deductions, unresolved debts and partially paid invoices. Recommend solutions to resolve past due balances to customers and facilitates resolution.
  • 10% Process and settle payments made by credit card and/or bank card
  • 10% Review requests for credit extension on existing commercial accounts on credit hold and/or over their assigned credit limits and communicate decision to sales and collection teams
  • 10% Responsible for gathering documentation and processing requests to extend credit to new commercial customers and maintaining existing accounts
  • 10% Review past due accounts and determine need to be placed on credit hold and notify customer and sales team as needed.
  • 10% Provide invoice copies and proof of delivery to customers upon request.
  • 10% Recommend and provide documentation for placement of accounts for outside collections by collection agency

    EDUCATION REQUIRED -
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

    YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 1

    PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of an associates degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job is preferred.
  • A core skill level regarding technical knowledge of accounts receivable systems such as, (Mincron) as well as support applications such as MS Excel, Word and data base applications such as Crystal reports are also preferred.
  • Proven self starter with the ability to be assertive and to challenge the status quo
  • Basic knowledge of The Home Depot, Your Other Warehouse and or other Home Depot subsidiaries policies and procedures is preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of financial data reporting
  • Basic skills in support software applications such as MS Excel, Word, Crystal and other accounting and accounts receivable software applications
  • Basic Organizational skills, Conflict management, Analytical thinking, Problem solving, Time management, Basic negotiating skills
