Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, position is responsible for providing statistical information for Operations and Administration personnel relative to crime patterns and trends. Position assembles complies, compares and analyzes collected information for the purpose of studying trends and identifying criminal patterns. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Collects specific crime data. Assembles, compiles, compares and analyzes collected information for the purpose of studying trends and identifying criminal patterns; incorporates this information into pertinent reports to be utilized by sworn personnel to structure use of patrol time and support investigations as well as crime prevention activities. Updates geographic locations of target crime occurrences. Prepares daily reports outlining target crimes and other crimes of interest. Prepares memorandums for supervisory approval. Attends compstat meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
Associates of Science degree with an emphasis in Criminal Justice, computer programming, statistical analysis or closely related field. One Year experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze collected data and/or statistical reports from various sources and incorporate this information into pertinent reports to be utilized by sworn personnel to structure and incorporate this information into pertinent reports to be utilized by sworn personnel to structure use of patrol time and support investigations as well as crime prevention activities; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Ability to handle a multitude of diverse tasks simultaneously while maintaining an attention to detail for the purpose of ensuring accuracy in task performance. Knowledge of report writing techniques. Knowledge of research and analysis techniques. Knowledge of laboratory techniques. fingerprinting techniques, and classification systems. Knowledge of evidence and lost/found property maintenance and disposition practices. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing.
Tasks involve sitting; standing; walking; occasionally climbing steps; kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling and performing other physical requirements commensurate with demands of the position. Manual dexterity to operate equipment in performance of duties. Must have good vision (corrective lenses acceptable); must be able to hear (hearing aids acceptable); must be able to speak (express or exchange of information by means of spoken words). Must be able to lift and/or carry/move up to 25 pounds. Contact with internal and external customers, outside agencies and the general public. Works in an office environment and sits for long periods of time. May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
