The Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of the Inspector General, is seeking candidates for the position of Criminal Investigator.
Under limited supervision, this position organizes and manages caseloads. Investigates alleged or suspected violations of Federal, state, or local laws, rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution or administrative action. May supervise subordinate staff.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
Collaborates with other authorities on activities such as surveillance, transcription, and research
Conducts background investigations
Conducts internal investigations
Determines scope, timing, and direction of investigations
Examines records in order to locate links in chain of evidence or information
Identifies case issues and evidence needed, based on analysis of charges, complaints, or allegations of law violations
May conduct training for other staff members
May supervise other investigators or agents
Obtains and verifies evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analyzing records
Obtains information related to cases
Performs special assignments when needed
Prepares reports that detail investigation findings
Testifies in judicial proceedings as necessary
Minimum Training & Experience: Bachelor's degree in any related field and two years experience in a related field.
Four years of experience in law enforcement or related field.
One year of experience at the Criminal Investigator (Working Level) or position equivalent.
Note: Some positions require Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Note: Some positions may require incumbent to have a valid Class C Driver's License.
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting internal investigations for a
Fluent in Spanish
Demonstrated experience working with minimum supervision
