As our part time Crisis Counselor, you must have the ability to assess the needs of each caller through basic counseling techniques while following established Hotline policy and procedures to ensure the safety of callers. You also must have the ability to remain calm and communicate effectively with people in crisis. Additionally, you will also provide problem solving techniques, resource information and assist callers in identifying on-going support.
To be considered for this unique opportunity you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree in the social or behavioral sciences, or equivalent related experience required.
Past experience in Human Service field is preferred.
Good documentation and written communication skills to include typing a minimum of 30 wpm
Ability to use technology including live chat, email and text
Ability to work flexible hours which may include overnights and weekends.
