PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Crop Protection Division Manager, is responsible for developing the Crop Protection marketing plans, managing the generic crop protection brand and proprietary adjuvant brand, developing and implementing training, achieving budgeted growth and profitability, communicating product mix needs to the Crop Protection Procurement/Operations Manager and supervising employees in a manner consistent with corporate policies.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP
Supervises, leads, and develops the Crop Protection Market Specialist position. Provides general department leadership and direction to select Area Sales Managers (ASM), Agronomy Business Directors (ABD), and Field Sales Agronomist (FSA) in coordination with the Agronomy Marketing (including Agronomy Services) and Member Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for coordinating meetings, recruiting new members, negotiation of goals, communicating goals, tracking goal progress and overall operations of the Crop Protection Task Force.
Accountable for all crop protection product line pricing at a level that supports company profit standards.
Responsible for developing and implementing marketing inputs into annual sales and gross margin and selling expense budgets, annual and long-term sales and gross margin projections.
Responsible for developing and implementing Crop Protection’s long-term and annual marketing plans/strategies and communicating the overall crop protection branded, generic and specialty product message across all core and expanded territories.
Responsible for working with Eastern Territory Manager and targeting growth in the expansion territories as well as identifying and developing new territories for crop protection products.
Responsible for developing the post patent crop protection product offerings and proprietary adjuvant brand development that meets the needs of the core and expanded territories.
Responsible for engagement of the Agronomy Business Directors to help coordinate our overall Crop Protection marketing efforts with marketing staffs and field staffs.
Collaborates with the Seed Division in creating strategic crop protection and seed marketing opportunities.
Responsible for implementing credit procedures and protocols used by field staff for non-member business that meet GROWMARK standards.
Responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of all Crop Protection Adjuvant training and support needs in conjunction with the Manager of Agronomy Services to strengthen Crop Protection’s marketing position.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains appropriate industry contacts to keep current on market trends.
Makes visits to member cooperatives and non-member customers to enhance business relationships.
Maintains a sales history of all crop protection product lines.
Prepares monthly sales status and activity reports.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Normally requires a college degree in business, marketing, or other business related discipline and at least 5 years of marketing leadership experience (preferably in the crop protection industry) to demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and execute strategic marketing plans, budgets, and communications.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.
Ability to acquire and have a United States Passport.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
