This position's territory will be northern Indiana. The succesful candidate can live anywhere in or near that territory.

Business Unit: Crop Protection & Seed

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Sells and distributes agricultural chemical products for United Suppliers, Inc. within a specified geographical area; Maximizes profits through efficient management of sales and warehouse expenditures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Obtain budgeted sales objective
  • Makes timely and planned personal sales calls on dealers in specified territory
  • Utilizes telephone to telemarket dealers in specified territory
  • Prioritizes dealer call frequency in direct proportion to volume and potential
  • Continually expends dealer list with customers who demonstrate the potential for increased sales and a strong balance sheet
  • Cooperates in preparing sales projections, goals, market analysis, dealer surveys, and other department projections deemed necessary by supervisor
  • Attends United Suppliers, Inc. sponsored meetings or other functions designated by supervisor
  • Works cooperatively with all manufacturer representatives
  • Keeps updated on new chemicals and recommendations
  • Keeps updated on suppliers’ programs
  • Understands, merchandize and positions the U.S. model – helping owners become more capable and competitive
  • Implements "Link Series " (marketing platform focused on demand creation) with key owners focused on implementation
  • Creating demand for specialty products
  • Effectively manage chemical warehouse in area of responsibility (where applicable)
  • Submits monthly inventory reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Processes all shipping and receiving reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Minimizes warehouse expenditures through proper maintenance of equipment and facilities
  • Hires only qualified, competent employees within the guidelines of United Suppliers, Inc.’s hiring procedures
  • Submits all mileage and fuel reports on a timely basis
  • Operates warehouse in a neat, safe, and orderly condition at all times
  • Responsible for complying with all company policies
  • All recommendations made strictly from the label
  • Submits warehouse and sales expense accounts on a timely basis
  • Understands and promotes the United Suppliers, Inc. concept
  • Works cooperatively with all U.S. employees
  • Works cooperatively with credit division and assure responsibility for collection of accounts
  • Represents United Suppliers, Inc. in a professional and business-like manner
  • Maintains an attitude of cooperation and enthusiasm


  • Supervisory Responsibilities: May directly or indirectly share supervisory responsibilities over managers at the warehouse site, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing applicants, hiring, and firing planning, assigning, and directing work and product delivery; conducting performance appraisals; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with two to four years related experience; or, Ag Associate's degree (A.A.) with four to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of or the ability to obtain working knowledge of Internet software; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; and sales order entry.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as MSDS sheets and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or other sales representative of organization.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current driver's license, CCA preferred.

    Other Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications: Must be able to travel 50% of the time or as required.
