Curriculum and Assessment Specialist II, Mathematics
Location: Dover, NH 100 Education Way Full Time/Part Time: Full time Position Summary A Curriculum and Assessment Specialist in mathematics is responsible for the test development activities for one or more large-scale assessment programs. Specialists develop multiple-choice, short-answer, and constructed-response items with rubrics according to state curriculum frameworks and other requirements. Specialists also develop and refine test blueprints, scoring guides, and supplementary materials, as well as facilitate advisory committee meetings. May also function as the lead mathematics developer for a large-scale assessment contract. Additional responsibilities include the following:
Create and refine multiple-choice, short answer, constructed response, and extended response items aligned to standards.
Develop item-specific scoring guides.
Prepare item sets for committee meetings.
Facilitate and guide the work of advisory committees.
Interpret and use item statistics in the selection of items.
Item Selection and test construction according to blueprint and test specifications.
Assist with development of assessment guides, brochures, and sample question packets.
Consult with Chief Readers during benchmarking.
Create contract-specific test specifications.
Create and analyze test blueprints.
Prepare feedback for freelancers.
Conduct item writing training workshops for a variety of audiences, listen and address concerns of workshop members (clients and/or developers.)
Review colleagues’ items and provide feedback.
Serve as lead developer.
Use database to construct, track, edit and publish items.
Ascertain and study current trends within national and professional groups’ content standards; and how children and adults learn.
Provide coordination for agenda, uniformity for presentation of items and sets, interpret standards for developers and freelancers.
Work with Managing Editors to coordinate schedules with Publications, communicate project details to various departments in Publications.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of combined classroom teaching and/or educational assessment experience, with at least four (4) years in educational assessment. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in an applicable discipline may be substituted for up to two (2) years of classroom teaching experience.
