The Curriculum Development Coordinator will work along with the Corporate Curriculum Development Specialist to ensure continuous improvement by developing, implementing, and assessing teaching and learning across the institution. The Curriculum Development Coordinator will be responsible for the development, review and evaluation of learning outcomes and ensure classroom activities support the meeting of student learning outcomes. The coordinator will assist academic departments and programs to select and analyze resource materials to improve student learning. The coordinator will also be responsible for conducting such activities in accordance with state and federal accreditation and University policies and regulations, consistent with the highest ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day functions of the university-wide curriculum development effort ensuring curriculum teams meet and document progress in achieving new and revised program timelines and milestones

Provide support and consultation to faculty and academic units in developing measurable student learning outcomes

Oversee the collection and review of core competency implementation plans

Review course syllabi to ensure weekly activities are relevant to student learning outcomes, textbook material, and assessment
measures

Facilitate the use of “best practices” in assessment and data to improve student learning

Develop/identify sources for obtaining resource materials to help faculty and staff streamline and improve their classroom and programs assessment practices

Coordinate, administer and report on university wide assessment activities (e.g., Learning Assessment Plan, National Survey of Student Engagement)

Disseminate and communicate assessment results to internal and external constituencies

Collaborate with the Institutional Research department to develop and promotes strategies to use university assessment results to foster educational improvement

Coordinate, track and project needed actions related to assessment for accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges (SACS) and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)

Qualifications:

Knowledge of educational assessment planning and methods

Skills in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting

Experience with data collection, management analysis, and report preparation

Written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills

Evidence of detail-orientation and ability to work independently

Proactive work ethic; takes initiative to solve problems

Awareness of challenges in fostering an institution-wide culture and commitment to assessment

Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or related field with 3 years experience in higher education, curriculum development, assessment, measurement, research or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
