Under general supervision the Custodian will be responsible for the custodial functions of an area or areas of Park University; participate in keeping the assigned areas and facilities clean, orderly, and safe; and do other related work as may be required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Dust horizontal/vertical surfaces
  • Empty and remove waste or recycles trash receptacles
  • Damp wipe all furniture
  • Clean metal and porcelain fixtures in restrooms
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms
  • Dry and wet mop floors or vacuum in offices, classrooms, lounges, etc. Burnishes floors as needed
  • Spot clean walls, windows and metal surfaces
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report all repairs needed
  • Participate in preparation for special activities and events held at the university
  • Replenish restroom supplies
  • Assist in cleaning of spills
  • Spot clean carpets
  • Observe and report the need of furniture or other building fixtures repairs
  • In case of emergency, perform duties as assigned
  • Ensure all doors are locked or unlocked as scheduled and report all suspicious activities to Public Safety
  • During summer or recess periods, perform detail cleaning work, such as washing walls, windows and woodwork, clean and sanitize furniture, strip and refinish floors, and deep clean showers
  • Reports unsafe conditions, vandalism, and any other unusual condition to Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Complete all other assigned tasks by management in which the employee is capable of performing

Performs snow removal duties up to 100% of the time if necessary. This may entail being called into work early

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to do all work safely, and perform work in such a way that the area being cleaned is safe for others in the area
  • Knowledge of methods of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies used in custodial and cleaning work
  • Knowledge of routine hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow assigned schedules
  • Ability to estimate quantity and types of materials and supplies needed
  • Ability to maintain simple records and prepare routine reports
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written records
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements, such as vacuuming or mopping
  • Ability to use a ladder to change out light bulbs
  • Ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Shifts are 4AM to 12:30PM or 5AM to 1:30PM depending on which Team you are assigned
