The housekeeper performs skilled work to clean and care for state buildings and their premises and is responsible for the proper cleanliness and sanitation of the area to which assigned. Instructions are given in oral and written form and work is reviewed and inspected periodically for conformance with established standards. On occasion may be requested to provide care for our person served. Housekeeper works under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain clean dust and odor free bathrooms, bedrooms, halls, dayrooms, walls and furniture.
2. Maintain clean water fountains.
3. Maintain clean, dust-free windows and window coverings.
4 Maintain trash bins.
5. Store cleaning supplies and equipment neatly and safely and use supplies and equipment safely.
6. Request necessary supplies.
7. Empty trash.
8. Report any needed repairs to the supervisor which is located in work environment.
9. Use safe and appropriate cleaning methods.
10. Successfully complete required in-service training.
11. Keep supervisor informed in a timely manner of important matters and communicates them
effectively orally and in writing.
12. Maintain the safety of the person served when assigned Direct Care activities.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Working knowledge of the sanitary aspects of cleaning methods and general sanitation methods as pertains to institutional sanitation. Skill in the application and use of sanitizing chemicals and equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to operate various buffing and polishing equipment.
Knowledge of ICFMR regulations, PMAB techniques, behavior management guidelines, PMP, feeding, bathing, therapeutic methods and techniques of training, and toileting techniques. The employee should have sufficient skills to apply CPR and/or First Aid in emergency situations and be able to recognize response of individuals and/or symptoms of illness; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Any combination of education and experience to completion of 12th grade is required.
Criminal background check, fingerprint, and drug test will be conducted. Primary Monday - Friday but on occasion alternate schedule may be required.
