Accounting Technician II - H8B2XX- Customer Service Representative

This position may be required to work nights and weekends at the Euclid Auto Park as a cashier and for events on campus as needed. This is an essential services position. The incumbent is required to respond after hours during emergencies and report to work for regular assigned shift during emergency campus closures.
Incumbent must be able to pass a criminal, financial and motor vehicle records background check.
The Parking Services' Business Office provides customer service to campus departments, faculty, staff, students, affiliates, vendors, contractors, and visitors on campus by providing information on parking services, rules and regulations. The Office sells parking privileges, takes payments on parking related fees, and provides any needed support to departmental programs and services.
Nature of Work:
This position provides customer service via telephone, walk-up window, mail, email or website to campus departments, faculty, staff, students, affiliates, vendors, contractors and visitors on campus by providing information and explanations for all parking services available, the campus parking rules and regulations, and bills for parking related fees on FLEX (Parking Services' Accounting and Management System), BRS (Student Billing and Receivables System), and FRS (Financial Reporting System). The position will be responsible for selling and accurately calculating, posting and processing payments received for parking permits, citations and other fees; calculating, posting and processing transfer of debts from FLEX to BRS and state collections; initiating, collecting and processing refund vouchers, credit IN's, petty cash reimbursements and check refund requests; processing and ensuring release of impounded vehicles and bicycles; responding to and/or submitting customer input, complaints and comments to appropriate staff; collecting information on Special Events Parking from events coordinators; providing information regarding construction contacts and selling business permits; and providing support for other sections with the Parking Services Division.
Job duties will include: batching, processing IN's, processing money received on debts transferred to BRS or State Collections, running billing processes for outstanding debts, supply inventory and restocking, priority payments, protested citation processing, impounded vehicle/bicycle release follow-up, verifying Visitor Lot Booth cash drawers and consolidations of monies, handling paperwork involved with refund requests and verifying their accuracy, opening and distributing mail, citation database verification; updating addresses and names on citations and vehicles on database.
This position is required to listen to customers' needs and assess what options are reasonable and financially feasible in each circumstance.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)

Two years of full-time equivalent technical accounting experience.
Two years of bookkeeping or technical accounting experience other than that listed may substitute for the required experience. Two years of college, university or non-correspondence business school which included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping can substitute for the required experience.
