The Cyber Security System Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and supporting operational and tactical aspects of systems for a centralized enterprise security function.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
¿ Maintain Linux servers and appliances for a security group
¿ Provides system administration for Security Servers ¿tuning, configuring, updating, patching ,maintenance for security servers, operating systems, application software
¿ Basic administration of select Window servers
¿ Monitor for system health and fault detection
¿ Perform configurations, upgrades, trouble shoot issues, deployments, software installs
¿ Manage a number of commercial and open source tool installations
¿ Primary point of contact for issues that require elevation to support
¿ Coordinate with other IT organizations to deploy new systems
¿ Responsible for keeping all tools patched, updated and available
¿ Assists Security Architect with new deployments and planning
¿ Assist in whatever capacity is needed during high severity incidents
¿ Take ownership of servers and proactively maintain systems
¿ Work with vendors and support staff during implementation and troubleshooting

In addiiton to the above:
-Responsible for Administration for Security Servers ¿tuning, configuring, updating, patching maintenance for security servers, operating systems, application software
-Responsible for providing system health and fault detection monitoring
-Perform configurations, upgrades, trouble shoot issues, deployments, software installs Responsible for troubleshooting and working with vendors to research and resolve application performance, interoperability, and/or configuration problems.
-Responsible for writing and updating documentation for processes and configurations of new/existing systems
-Utilizes best practices to improve products and services.
-Apply and verify compliance to standards and policies.

Qualifications

Minimum:
¿ Bachelor¿s degree in computer science or related discipline and typically 3 to 5 years¿ experience in IT , or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
¿ Demonstrated hands-on Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience
¿ Experience working with Linux-based appliances
¿ Linux server hardware troubleshooting, replacement and upgrade procedure experience
¿ Demonstrated scripting experience with bash, perl, python
¿ Experience with change management procedures and patch management.
¿ Ability to configure/maintain system monitoring software and alerting
¿ Experience supporting up to 100 servers
¿ Comprehension and ability to configure basic services: web, email etc.
¿ Basic Networking skills
¿ Good problem solving skills
¿ Proven ability to meet project objectives, prioritize and manage concurrent tasks,and problem-solve under pressure.
¿ Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Preferred:
¿ McAfee and/or Symantec AV administration
¿ Experience managing open source software
¿ Enterprise security interest
¿ Database experience
¿ Experience with virtualization (vmware, kvn, xen)
¿ SIEM or log correlation experience.
