ALL NEW HIRES IN THIS CLASSIFICATION ARE REQUIRED TO WORK 2ND (OR) 3RD SHIFTS, WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, AND OVERTIME, AS NECESSARY.
Shift Hours: (Vary) 7:30 am 3:30 pm; 3:30 pm 11:30 pm; 11:30 pm 7:30 am.
Shift Differential Pay: $0.50 / hour for 2nd Shift and $0.75 / hour for 3rd Shift.
This is a 24 hour 7 days a week operation including weekends and holidays.

The Data Reporting Unit Technician will provide a wide variety of general customer service in support of the police department including data entry into Tiburon, generating narratives using correct grammar and proper spelling techniques, and responding to citizen inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
The selected candidate will be a self-starter and possess excellent oral communication skills as well as demonstrate decision-making skills.
The candidate will receive instructions or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and will be fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
The candidate will receive general supervision from assigned managerial or supervisory staff.
Skills / Requirements
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
High School Diploma, GED Certificate or higher educational attainment required; preference may be given to higher levels of education and experience as they relate to the position, PLUS two (2) years of data entry / production typing in an office or clerical setting required.
Also, two (2) years of extensive telephone and public contact customer service skills and experience required.
Must pass Computerized Office Skills exam with a score of 70 and typing examination with a minimum of 40 wpm.
Experience in transcribing and preparing reports and candidates with prior police department experience, knowledge of Tiburon, CAD systems, and/or the Penal Code and Bilingual skills and abilities (English / Spanish) are preferred.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background investigation, polygraph and drug screen examination.
