Specified Term: A staff member may be appointed to term status for a specific term not to exceed three years in order to accomplish a specific purpose or when the duration of funding is limited or unknown.

The Data Manager is responsible to coordinate data collection, maintenance, and analysis efforts between the Science Education program, off-site data collection assistants, statisticians, and others involved in the Science Writing Heuristic project. Duties include the utilization of databases to create and develop data collection tools, collect and aggregate data collection forms, reports, and videos, supervise off –site data collectors and on-site data coders, act as liaison with data collection and off-site analyses at Iowa State University, and lead contact for approximately 48 schools involved in data collection efforts.

Education Required:
A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience Required:
Experience in database administration, typically 1 -3 years.

Working knowledge of at least one scalable, multi user database.

Knowledge of database performance tuning and security issues.

Fundamental understanding of process modeling, data modeling, and database design.

Demonstrated competence in at least one programming environment.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written, with technical and non technical staff.

Creative thinking for computational problem solving.
