Wheelock College invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Programs. The Dean reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Working closely with the School†s two Associate Deans, the Dean will work to expand the School†s excellent reputation and facilitate innovative scholarship and on- and off-campus offerings that extend its impact.

The mission of Wheelock College is to improve the lives of children and families. A private College with a public mission, Wheelock is recognized as an international leader in fields such as Education, Child Life, Social Work, and Family Studies. These professional programs are complemented by strong programs in the Arts and Sciences. Enrollment on the Boston campus is approximately 900 undergraduates and 430 graduate students. Wheelock also offers regional and international off-campus programs, and the College has more than 620 students in Singapore. As the School†s chief academic and administrative officer, the Dean of the newly-reorganized School of Graduate and Professional Programs will provide intellectual and administrative leadership to guide the School in its commitment to strong and innovative education for diverse audiences, global and local outreach, and scholarship with impact. The Dean†s responsibilities involve institution building and creating an environment that empowers and energizes faculty and staff to grow and deliver Wheelock†s undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in education, child life, family studies, social work, and leadership. The Dean†s work includes forging a shared School vision to drive academic excellence and the high demands of professional preparation; facilitating synergies among programs; encouraging creative research and scholarship; fiscal management and revenue generation, including seeking external resources; recruiting and retaining faculty and staff; developing and strengthening collaborations and partnerships within Wheelock, across the Colleges of the Fenway consortium, and with relevant external communities; promoting and advocating for the School on campus and off; and contributing as a member of the Institutional Leadership Team (ILT) to the overall good stewardship of Wheelock College. Experiences with professional education and curricular design, skills in change management, and the capacity to work closely and collaboratively with others are at the heart of such leadership.
