The departmental assistant position for MTV News & Docs requires a host of creative, managerial, and organizational skills. The job involves assisting the senior vice president of the department – including answering phones, managing calendar, booking travel, doing research, and processing expense reports. It also requires providing Docs staff and the individual Docs series production staffs with in-office and also on-set assistance.
The assistant needs to identify and collect department-related press and reprint press clips for files – and collect, edit, and organize the Docs Web Site media and oversee updates to the Site as well. The position also calls for managing and entering Docs yearly awards submissions.
The departmental assistant serves as point person for our liasons with outside production and talent companies and also must help collect, document, and process all outside creative pitches. And the departmental assistant also must manage and facilitate internal requests for departmental series materials.
In addition, the Docs departmental assistant hires and manages college interns per semester – including setting their schedules, coordinating their work, and providing useful feedback.
- Excellent PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience in doing Internet research
- Professional phone skills; strong Interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Good organizational skills
- College degree preferred.
