All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of Dignity Health and California Hospital Medical Center. The Development Associate reports to the Director of Grants and Contracts and serves in a fund-raising role.
Verifiable fundraising or development experience, including program and budget development and monitoring, preferably in the nonprofit social service or healthcare sector. Experience in soliciting support for grant-funded programs, including interfacing with public and private funding agencies, is highly desirable. Bachelors Degree in a relevant field, preferably in business, finance, or related management field. General knowledge of fund development. General knowledge of capital campaigns. Excellent understanding of range of grant resources, especially from governmental departments dealing with health and human services. Excellent understanding of private grant resources. Excellent knowledge of prospect research techniques, including utilizing Web-based resources. General knowledge of grant administration. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including MS Word, Excel, and Access as well as a working knowledge of fund-raising database software. Ability to develop and maintain trust and confidence among various constituencies, including hospital program managers, community representatives, and funding sources. Facilitation and strategic planning skills needed to work with program managers and proposal planning teams. General knowledge of website development and writing and production of publicity materials.
