Description
Scientists are needed to plan and perform development and optimization studies for the Assay Development group of Beckman Coulter Corporation.
Qualified applicants should have experience in immunoassay chemistry and development.
Candidates will be expected to assist in the development and optimization of key reagents for immunoassays. Some knowledge of common conjugation and solid phase coating procedures is preferred, but not required, as the candidate with be expected to work closely with the Reagent Chemistry group.
The incumbent performs experiments as defined and planned by a supervisor or team leader; participates in planning studies for the development, evolution and optimization of assay reagents in support of immunoassay development; and maintains well organized laboratory notebooks in compliance with relevant procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
•
Plan and perform studies for the development and optimization of raw materials and processes to be used in automated and manual immunoassays
•
Participate in identifying technical issues and recommend resolutions
•
Participate in verification and validation of new and modified product designs
•
Maintain well organized documentation in compliance with relevant procedures
•
Participate in Assay Development departmental shared services
•
Perform routine maintenance activities to ensure proper functionality of automated immunoassay instrumentation and integrity of data generated
•
Manage Kanban supply cabinets and biohazard waste in immunoassay instrument
laboratories
•
Support the Sample Bank to catalog samples in associated databases and fulfill sample acquisition requests
•
Support the transfer of processes into manufacturing environments and investigation of post-launch performance and/or quality issues
•
Remain current on internal policies and documentation requirements, as well as appropriate procedures for assigned projects

Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience:
•
Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field (BA/BS 2+ years or MA/MS
0-2 years)
•
Experience with immunoassay development on automated platforms preferred
•
Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking and prioritizing required
•
Experience working in a GMP environment and knowledge of FDA requirements and regulations desirable
•
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
•
Familiarity with statistical techniques desirable
•
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
