POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR, Credit and Member Risk Analysis
LOCATION: JERSEY CITY, NJ
DURATION: 8 months +
DEPARTMENT: Risk Management
AREA: Credit and Member Risk Analysis
SUPERVISION Exercised: Supervises staff of 1 - 2
REPORTS TO: Chief Risk Officer
One of the main functions of the department is to protect the safety and soundness of the clearinghouse. This function is accomplished by the roles of the various areas in the department, including:
Credit and Member Risk Analysis (CAMRA)
The Credit and Member Risk Unit is primarily responsible for developing policies and procedures for review of member's finances, risk policies and procedures. The Unit assesses member credit risk, analyzes the quality and adequacy of member risk management practices, assesses compliance with established financial parameters and keeps current on new accounting and regulatory actions that impact member firms. The unit will serve as the centralized function for conducting member financial analytics within Risk Management Department.
Regulatory Risk Review
An integral part of the functioning of the Risk Management Department is that risks are identified, analyzed and controlled in a manner that is consistently applied across all members and in a manner consistent with the Rules of the Clearing House. The main responsibility of this group is to perform and document in depth reviews of the Credit Risk and Risk Management practices of members and applicants.
Manages, monitors and documents member credit analysis, member risk management policies, procedures and practices.
? Drive and take ownership of identifying and measuring exposure to members from, (but not limited to) their exposure to: credit, market, liquidity, operational, technology, and system risks.
Develop scale for classifying the risk profile of each member and applicant
Develop a system for monitoring member risk profiles
Be able to discuss member risk profiles with regulators
Support staff education and development in effective risk management.
Serve as a contact with FICC Credit Risk.
? Make presentations to Executive Management and the Committees of the Board as necessary
A minimum of 10 years of experience, including 4+ years of managerial experience; experience in financial statement analysis of numerous types of financial sector firms, knowledge of credit risk modeling and knowledge of various trading products.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
? Superior knowledge of financial statement analysis with a concentration in broker/dealers, banks, hedge funds and foreign entities
? Superior credit and financial analytical skills
? Superior knowledge of broker/dealer FOCUS Reports and bank Call Reports
? Strong knowledge of regulatory issues
? Excellent knowledge of various accounting regimes
? Excellent understanding of the global market risks and the impact on an entity's financial condition
? Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
? Superior communication skills, both oral and written
? Superior leadership abilities
? Good ability to work seamlessly with all levels of management throughout the organization
? Superior managerial skills
? Ability to work well under pressure
Education, Training &/or Certification:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics. MBA preferred.
