CARE is seeking an experience Director of Online Fundraising & Engagement to provide strategic leadership, management and tactical direction to grow online revenue, engage CARE’s online supporter base and attract and cultivate a younger, new supporter to build CARE’s future supporters. This position will manage the online fundraising team and several outside agencies as well as provide direction to online support teams to build and implement annual web marketing and fundraising plans. Insights, planning and creativity will be essential in developing breakthrough campaigns to accomplish these goals. A key component to success will be to ensure online fundraising is integrated with all other fundraising and marketing efforts. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that the website and its content are relevant to our supporter base, distinctive from our peer group and aligned with the brand positioning and overall communication plan. This position will play a critical leadership role for the individual fundraising team in building long-term fundraising strategy and platforms to significantly grow revenue and expand CARE’s supporter base. This position will also play a critical role working with lead CARE International members to develop the global online strategy and engagement plan. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Routinely benchmarking and evaluating key competitor online and social media campaigns
  • Understanding current and anticipating future online/social trends to provide recommendations and insights on how best to capitalize on these trends and which emerging technologies CARE should utilize to maximize fundraising and improve the donor experience
  • Establishing and managing online agency relationships
  • Partnering with key cross-functional areas to ensure campaign alignment, including but not limited to other fundraising leads, PR/communications, cause marketing and advocacy
  • Analyzing and tracking online performance and social support of CARE as well as monitoring online/social behavior to capitalize on trends or shifts in mindsets

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, leads and supports the online fundraising team and assumes all aspects of team management
  • Provide insights and recommendations on how best to leverage the web and social media to maximize revenue and improve the long-term donor experience
  • Develop, execute and deliver annual operating plan including revenue and expense objectives
  • Enrich the donor experience and attract new supporters to CARE through web/social engagement strategies and campaigns
  • Shares successes and failures with CI and key federation partners
  • Represent CARE externally during online/social media conferences and benchmarking meetings

Required
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in psychology, business, technology or communications
  • 5+ years in direct marketing, e-commerce marketing or online fundraising
  • Demonstrated success in growing online revenue
  • Experience leading creative teams to build online / social engagement campaigns
  • Significant P&L experience: building and managing plans (revenue, expenses, marketing contribution, etc.)
  • Experience building and leading teams
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills; strong strategic thinker and analytical skills; creative problem solver with excellent work ethic
  • Knowledge of web business dynamics, including, but not limited to: website, content management systems, information architectures, basic understanding of HTML, e-mail tools and their associated best practices, basic understanding of capturing customer/constituent data within databases, web marketing techniques, web reporting, strong understanding of Excel and Visio (or equivalent business process diagramming tools), understanding of online fundraising (or the commercial equivalent of running an e-commerce site)
