Responsible for providing the Chief Development Officer with market intelligence and analytics and assisting with strategic planning for all market facilities. Duties include developing plans for growth of facility admissions and market share; assisting with annual Manpower Planning; overseeing physician development, retention, recruitment & redirection; supervising the physician relationship program; providing decision support and analysis including recommendations for program expansion, development or closure. Responsibilities include:
Business Strategy/Business Planning - Assists the CDO with the development and implementation of the hospital's business strategy by providing analysis of market dynamics and market share changes, product line performance and overall tracking of business initiatives and competitive intelligence. Responsibilities include translating data and analysis into realistic business strategy.
Physician Development - Responsibility for assisting the CDO with planning, organizing and directing activities aimed at improving relationships with local physicians and retaining and growing physician volume. Specific responsibilities include:
Developing monthly reports to track physician volume variances
Preparing the annual Manpower Plan based on community need
Providing direction to the market physician recruiter - responsible for preparing the weekly physician manpower tracking and pipeline reports; overseeing physician negotiations and contracting; assisting with on-boarding new physicians
Supervising the physician sales program - responsible for hiring/firing/evaluating staff; oversees training and development; develops strategic priorities and target lists using available decision support data; oversees reporting by the PRMs; assesses achievement to goals and determines bonus achievement;; understands practice patterns, solicits opinions, promotes new services, monitors results
Program Development -assists in identifying new business opportunities based on research and analysis and competitor intelligence. Specific responsibilities include data analysis; preparing volume & financial projections; preparing feasibility analysis; developing pro formas
Marketing - supports the Marketing Department with decision support needs. Specific responsibilities include:
Conducting market research
Providing decision support as needed
A Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or related discipline is required.
Ten years of health care experience in strategic planning, business development or related area.
Knowledge: Understands the
health care industry
, local market place dynamics and overall hospital strategy and operations; keen understanding of physician relationships and practice patterns (and managed care for CA facilities)
Strategic thinking skills: Skilled at executing strategy and problem solving; asks the right questions, follows-up and determines strategy based on facts; knows how to use analytical tools.
Proficiency in Excel, and data management tools.
Competency in manipulating OSHPD data, Thomson Medstat Market Planner, Insight Analytics and other Decision Support tools.
Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills
