– Infection Control (CH): Responsible for the management, planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring of the Infection Prevention and Control Program for Catholic Health (CH) with matrix oversight responsibility for all ministries. Responsibilities will include budgeting and determining staffing priorities. Responsible for assuring that CH meets Infection Prevention and Control Standards applied by external agencies such as the CDC, CMS, DOH, The Joint Commission, OSHA and others. Assures that the Infection Prevention and Control Program provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff through prevention and risk reduction interventions. This position involves professional responsibilities in the areas of case finding, surveillance, analysis and interpretation, reporting, inspection, education, consultation and recommendations to prevent and control infections.REPORTS TO: CH Vice President Quality & Patient SafetySUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibility to oversee all aspects of the CH Infection Prevention and Control Program assuring compliance with Infection Control Standards. Direct responsibility for Infection Control Coordinators and Infection Control Nurses. Matrix responsibility for Ministry Infection Control leaders and their respective programs Develops goals and objectives supportive of the Leadership Agenda, Mission and Vision of CH Development of the annual departmental budget; ensures effective and appropriate utilization of resources. Determines staffing priorities and makes adjustments as needed to accommodate. Provides leadership by guiding, teaching, developing and motivating others to adhere to the Infection Control Program. This applies to all CH staff and affiliate sites. HR responsibilities include but not limited to scheduling, evaluations, hiring practices and disciplinary issues. Communicates effectively and maintains working relationships with others throughout CH. Keeps CH facilities informed of infection control activities and changes in infection control policies and procedures.Maintains competency and proficiency and professional development by attending workshops, seminars and conferences as well as active membership in Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC). Also maintains certification in Infection Control (CIC).Provides leadership on multi disciplinary committees in the area of Infection Control.Facilitates a supportive working relationship with all members of the health care team.
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM): EDUCATION: Masters Degree, MSN, MPH Current Registered Nurse Licensed by the State of New York Current Certification in Infection Control or eligible for certification EXPERIENCE: · Three years of Infection Control experience in an acute care setting. · Five (5) years clinical experience. · Three (3) years Management experience. · Emergency Preparedness experience preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Strong interpersonal skills to work with other members of Management, Administration, Medical Staff and front line staff Demonstrate the ability to lead, challenge, motivate and facilitate others to achieve results. Understanding of statistics, population health and regulatory agencies Ability to lead cross organizational teams to improve identified outcomes Experience in planning and presentation of group programs. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Strong managerial skills to successfully manage Infection Control team Valid NYS Drivers License
