The DIRECTOR OF MEDICALSTAFF position is critical to the success of St. Joseph's Medical Center and require the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. It is expected that our employees demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.
The DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL STAFF will oversee the Medical Staff functions. The incumbent must have knowledgeable of State and Federal regulations and licensure standards governing medical staff. The director supports the hospital's medical staff by planning and directing the activities of the Medical Staff Office to meet these standards and regulations. In addition the manager serves as a liaison between Administration and the Medical staff. This position requires a close relationship with the Quality Management Department to achieve mutual goals related to standards of care. The incumbent is also responsible for working with the Medical Staff Services in the Service Area in project development and support consistent with the mission philosophy, and strategic plans of Dignity Health Northern California Division.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
Three to five (3-5) years' progressively responsible work experience within a Medical Facility
B.A. or B.S. degree (Business Administration) or equivalent experience
Strong supervisory experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Complete understanding of operational and capital budget management
Prior experience in attendance at meetings and preparation of minutes
Knowledge of quality improvement procedures, principles and tools
Current knowledge of medical-legal issues and laws, regulatory agency requirements and accreditation standards as they relate to medical staff, JCAHO Standards, Title 22 Requirements affecting Medical Staff, Medical Staff Credentialing Process, Medical Staff Organization and Management Process, Quality Improvement Process
Strong interpersonal skills including teaching, coaching and mentoring skills
Proficiency in the use of a computer including hospitals information systems
CPMSM - National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Certification required
