The Director of the Center for Business and Industry provides administrative leadership for effective planning and functioning of the varied aspects of the Center for Business Industry.
Description of Essential Functions:
Promote and represent the Center for Business and Industry as the leading provider of customized employee training within the Lake Land College district. 2. Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to meet the needs of area businesses and industries. 3. Manage contracting function to ensure compliance with educational and fiscal goals. 4. Hire and direct the activities of the professional staff and training providers. 5. Provide vision and direction for expansion of training offered by Lake Land College. 6. Serve as the building representative for Lake Land College for all partners housed in the Workforce Development Building. 7. Manage partnerships with and facilitate programs offered with area businesses and industries. 8. Attend professional meetings and keep the college apprised of recent developments in the area of customized training. 9. Serve as a member of various committees with the college. 10. Other duties as assigned.
Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Technology, Business, or training and development concentration. A Master’s is preferred in Technology, Business, or training and development concentration. Experience: Experience in a community college setting preferred with related experience in manufacturing, business and/or service industry with emphasis on supervision, management or training responsibilities. Knowledge: Adult education, instructional design, organizational development, management, training and problem solving, team building, strategic planning, computer software applications, technical skills training, group facilitation, platform skills. Skills: Computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, performance management, contract development and negotiation, consultative sales, office management. Personal: Professional image, sales and marketing emphasis, growth and development orientation, adaptable and responsive to change, ability to establish strong professional relationships in diverse environments. Physical: Ability to deliver day-long stand-up training programs, ability to speak to large groups, ability to transport program materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Machines & Equipment Used: College administrative software, PC Client Server environment, Windows platforms, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer, presentation equipment/software, facsimile machine, multi-line digital phone system, form feed/flatbed scanner and copy machine and other related educational related software. Valid driver’s license required.
