The Director of Web Communication is Columbia Law School's strategic digital communications advocate and project manager, who conceives, collaborates across the organization, and executes communications programs via digital technologies to enhance the Columbia law School brand and experience to external and internal audiences.

The Director of Web Communications reports to the Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs, and is responsible for developing and executing content for Columbia Law School's website, community-based social media, and digital communications campaigns. The incumbent will proactively champion new technologies, trends, and best-in-class web/interactive practices in support of the School's academic mission and business goals.

This person will collaborate with the Director of Web Strategy, Information Technology, and other School leadership in forming and leading project teams to develop and execute digital communications programs that strengthen the Columbia Law School brand among external audiences, and supports customer relationships with internal constituencies, both alumni and student.

This person will advocate the potential of digital innovations and web communications to increase constituent loyalty, and increase efficiency across the organization as well as provide oversight to all brand-related web/interactive plans and activities to ensure continuity and compliance to the School's branding platform.

1. Directs and contributes to the creation and continuous development of Columbia Law School web content and CMS templates. Leads quality assurance reviews for site optimization. Proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks during CMS implementation and upgrades.
2. Partners with Information Technology, project management teams, external vendors and direct Web communications staff of two to ensure successful execution of web strategy to enhance marketing and communications.
3. Transform strategic communications opportunities into digital approaches by problem identification through solution facilitation. Create business cases that outline opportunities and associated benefits, feasibility, and approaches. Structure and present recommendations to senior leadership for approval.
4. Stays abreast of innovations in web communications, development tools and strategies, online social networking, and online customer relations management tools, websites and technology.
5. Develops and implements skill development training for Columbia Law School staff. Creates and contributes to a shared repository (e.g. procedures, policies, papers, tools, code, etc.) and/or by facilitating knowledge transfer.
6. Participates in bi-weekly meetings of the Web Task Force and quarterly meetings of a Faculty Technology advisory committee.
7. Performs other related Communications and Public Affairs duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

B.A. or the equivalent, plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in strategic web communications, online community building and brand awareness, project management,. Proven management experience of web communications personnel and solutions. Advanced understanding of web technologies, CMS, Drupal, social networking, emerging media, and enterprise-level Internet communications solutions and strategies. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Previous experience in legal or academic environment a plus.
