ONEUPWEB , a full service digital marketing agency located in Traverse City, Michigan is looking for a leader to manage and direct web development both internally for for our national clients. The Director of Web Development will be responsible for writing, developing and implementing standards compliant code for websites, microsites and landing pages both internally and for Oneupwebs Clientele. The Director of Web Development will manage and lead the web development team and distribute tasks as they are assigned and able to forecast/budget the necessary hours needed for each project and stay within that set budget. This individual will work closely with the sales team and will likely participate in discovery calls to help understand the vision of site projects. In addition, the Director of Web Development will assist sales in translating those discovery conversations into strong proposals. This can include estimating and highlighting potential areas of concern and/or where scope could be impacted.
Work closely with Project Managers, and other members of the Development Team, to both develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Able to plan, present, create and manage a variety of client projects, both interactive and non-interactive.
Manage and work with a team of developers and designers, proving practical direction and feedback.
Produce project estimates and detailed specs during sales process, including expertise required, total number of people required, total number of development hours required, etc.
Must have experience with budgets and forecasting development projects and attend client meetings during the sales process and during development.
Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations to clients.
Communicate to the Project Manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays.
Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to clients.
Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.
Troubleshoot and problem-solve code issues, taking the initiative to research, discover and implement alternative solutions.
Prepare development plans and schedules; implement the plans to ensure on time, on budget project deliverables
Must be able to lead a team of developers.
Must have prior project management experience and was held accountable to deadlines, timelines, deliverables, etc.
Must have an ability to understand and communicate with developers on all levels of the development process and manage the team in a way that meet all deadlines set and all members of the team held accountable.
Must be able to clearly articulate to both client-facing teams and directly to clients at all times with status updates and resolve situations in a manner that allows the client to trust that the scope of the project is in good hands.
Must be able to work with outsourced partners.
Must be able to clearly document and articulate scope and scale of projects. Once projects are in development, this individual will work closely with development partners to keep projects on track, convey assets to the necessary parties and communicate progress to our internal stake holders.
Ability and experience to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing resources, workload queues and setting priorities within a structured organization.
