The Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM), a managed care health plan, seeks a Disaster Recovery Administrator to ensure the security and integrity of data, data systems, and voice/data networks across the entire organization. This includes designing and implementing disaster recovery (DR) processes and business continuity procedures for re-establishing servers, storage, operating systems, databases, and applications in the event of a disruption, both minor and catastrophic. This person will also perform and analyze disaster simulations for the prompt restoration of services, and conduct security audits where required.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Develops and establishes disaster recovery procedures for the restoration of mission-critical business applications in the event of natural disasters, technical failures, power outages, and human interference. Manages and coordinates all aspects of actual recovery plan implementation and efforts, including initial emergency response, recovery procedures, and business resumption processes. Develops, implements, maintains and oversees enforcement of policies, procedures and associated plans of disaster recovery administration and business continuity based on industry-standard best practices. Informs and trains staff members on their responsibilities concerning business continuity procedures and emergency response. Ensures that company equipment, systems, and services are compliant with disaster recovery plans and procedures. Works with HPSM facilities team for facilities related procedures and plans. Ensures the preservation of vital information, data or media through diligent maintenance of hard copies and backup equipment. Continually conducts test runs and document using preventative, detective and corrective control measures in order to revise and perfect plans. Conducts risk assessments and business impact analysis to identify vulnerable areas within the company’s critical functions. Directs and coordinates staff efforts to formulate department-specific disaster recovery plans. Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to obtain protection services and products.
REQUIREMENTS

Education, Certification, and Experience: College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or information systems and/or 5 years equivalent work experience. Certifications in Disaster Recovery Planning (CRP) and Business Continuity (CBCP) highly preferred. Broad hands-on knowledge of disaster recovery planning and other industry-standard techniques and practices. In-depth knowledge of all types of disasters, natural or otherwise, and their effect on company technologies. Working technical knowledge of current systems software, hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco, HP, Dell, EMC VNX, VMware and IBM (AIX). Strong knowledge of network administration/protocols, including Cisco, Brocade, and Fabric OS . Strong knowledge of backup software, including Backup Exec, Acronis and Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).

Ability to: Solid project management and organizational skills . Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent attention to detail . Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to meet deadlines . Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment . Highly self-motivated and directed . Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers and network devices with minimal assistance . Continuous on-call availability.
