This position will be critical in achieving our vision of establishing predictive analytics as a competitive advantage of MAPFRE USA. Work has strategic impact on potentially all functional areas including marketing, product, actuary, operations, and claims. Responsible for identifying both internal and external data sources, extracting and cleansing data elements, creating variables and datasets, and utilizing programming and analytical skills to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis related to pure premiums, customer life time value, customer buying behaviors, retention and other topics. Develop processes and applications to facilitate internal deployment of models and work as a liaison with IT for enterprise implementation. Monitor the performance of models in production and maintain quality documentation on all data subjects. Responsibilities will evolve over time.
Education: Masters Degree or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 4 - 6 years - or Associates Degree equivalent plus 6 - 8 years.
Knowledge: Complete understanding and knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Applies them to perform or lead work requiring extensive analytical business skills.
Decision Making: Makes decisions using broad management limits. Applies guidelines and procedures that leave considerable room for discretion and interpretation. Decisions directly influence project, client relationships and or expenditures. Additionally, decisions exert some influence on organization's long-range goals and objectives. Participates in determining objectives of assignments.
Supervision Received: Works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy in meeting objectives.
Leadership: May provide training and guidance to less experienced staff.
Problem Solving/Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Applies knowledge to determine solutions to complex problems with minimal direction. Uses research and analysis to develop innovative and practical solutions which are consistent with organizational objectives.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts are primarily at or below upper management levels. Represents organization on specific projects. Communication may involve persuasion, and negotiation.
Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Basic Qualifications:
Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related quantitative analytical field.
Experience in insurance, banking, credit card or other financial industries, or comparable consulting experience.
Strong programming skills in SQL, SAS, VBA, EXCEL, ACCESS.
Strong in data modeling, merge/purge, query, and reporting in SAS, DBMS (e.g. Oracle, DB2, ACCESS), and other systems.
Familiar with quantitative and qualitative analysis .
