The Data Analyst will manage large sets of data in support of Explore’s Product Management and New Product Development teams. Responsibilities include analysis and validation of existing data sets, creation of new data files by combining large volumes of existing data, movement of data between formats and locations, and other analytical tasks as needed. Additionally, this person will have ownership of the non-production databases used by our actuarial and GIS teams to develop new products and execute customer integration tests.
Work will be done primarily in Microsoft tools including SQL Server and MS Excel. However, candidates will be expected to learn basic skills in more specialized platforms such as http://www.manifold.net/ and http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis .

8 Analyze new data sets to evaluate completeness, format, accuracy, and alignment with existing data.
8 Combine multiple data files to create new files in defined formats.
8 Perform unions, calculations, filtering, and re-organization within data sets in support of product development and customer tests.
8 Develop and execute test plans to validate accuracy of processed data outputs.
8 Monitor database and file server space utilization. Work with necessary teams to archive unneeded data and expand space when necessary.
8 Create and maintain documentation of data models and database schemas.
8 Learn basic skills in additional data processing platforms as needed.
8 Bachelor's degree
8 Experience querying and working with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008
8 Excellent communication skills.

8 Ability to function independently and as a team member.
8 2 – 4 years or more of industry related experience preferred.
