Northrop Grumman Technical Services sector is seeking an experienced, senior level, Data Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Fairfax, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's team supporting the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC).
The Data Architect's primary responsibility will be to work with customers to understand critical requirements, translate the requirements into capabilities, and present options addressing customer requirements. The successful candidate will have a complete understanding of Open Standards Architecture, Services Oriented Architecture, Software Development and Release Life Cycles, Data Center Systems Analysis and Design, Governance Architecture, analyzing issues and providing recommendations for improvements, based on lessons learned. Strong team leadership, enterprise cross-functional collaboration, planning, communication, and negotiation skills are essential. A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or other technical disciplines is preferred. Previous experience in Data Architecture within the DoD is preferred.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-- Design, model, document, and guide the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications.
--Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develop technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
--Create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance
--Present architecture design recommendations to senior management and executives
--Act as the liaison between various stakeholders, customers and technical teams, to assist with any activities related to architecture and software development
--Provide analysis and recommendations to improve IT processes, and minimize failures and risk by analyzing root cause analysis and recommending resolution
-- Provide technical guidance to application development groups and the enterprise in the implementation of databases systems and coordinating strategies for programming and security, in support of strategic goals.
--Bachelors with 9 years, Masters with 7 years
--Demonstrated experience in Enterprise Architecture, including modeling, design and system integration
--Strong verbal and written skills
--Project Plan development
--Excellent listening skills
--Ability to facilitate local and remote discussions and meetings
--Strong teamworking, cross-functional collaboration skills, and coaching skills
--10+ years of IT experience, and 6+ years of experience directly related to IT Architecture
--Successful project delivery
--Strong conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skills
--Work closely with customers to clearly understand requirements and provide solution options
--Write documentation based on requirements and design decisions for application development teams
--Strong business planning, business process, and strategic planning skills
--Strong technical IT skills including software engineering, security, and data management
--Ability to work with IT developers, answer questions and enhance the requirements when needed
--Provide guidance and coaching to the junior members of the project team
--Familiarity with government environments and standards
--Familiarity with "Big Data"
--IT Architect Certification
--Experience in SQL, Oracle Databases, PL/SQL
--Experience in the Software Development Lifecycle
--Experience in the Software Release Lifecycle, (Change Management, Configuration Management, and Release Management)
--Well versed in Java, J2EE, Web technologies, application servers, and web services
--Knowledge of SCRUM/Agile development methodologies
--Facilitate meetings with Software Development teams, including Architects, DBS, Systems Engineers, and Software Developers.
--Experience with enterprise database management systems and understanding of both Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)
--Experience with technical risk management, (identify information assets and/or risk areas, quantify, qualify threats, assess vulnerabilities, mitigate risks to close gaps and establish controls, re-assess and manage ongoing risks.
--Strong knowledge in TOGAF and DODAF
--DoD Secret Security clearance.
