DESCRIPTION

On-site technician for the installation of assigned projects, utilizing assigned personnel and equipment. Also is the customer liaison.

DUTIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides support to location in all or some of the following areas:

  • Terminating fiber optic cable (hot melts).
  • Testing fiber optic cable (power meters)
  • Identifying circuits: live and dead phone, DSL, T1 and be able to understand the pinout of each.
  • Performing cutovers successfully of ID circuits, lines, labeling.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards.
  • Building telco closets.
  • Building grounding infrastructure
  • Troubleshooting cooper phone and data.
  • Operating a certification tester such as a fluke or wirescope.
  • Operation of a butt set.
  • Leading jobs and being responsible for other workers on the job.
  • Terminating all kinds of jacks, patch panels and phone blocks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Three to five years of field experience preferred in the installations of category 5e & 6e Cable

Power limited license in Minnesota preferred

One to three years of experience splicing and terminating fiber optic lines.

Required Knowledge, skills and abilities
Must have good understating of specialty tools used.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must have and maintain a valid DOT health card.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
