Position Description: The Subject Matter Expert for Data Center Support Lead must possess in-depth knowledge of Data Center Management Principles and Concepts. They should be highly self-motivated, dedicated, adaptable to change, multi-task able, and a team player. The candidate for this position may perform any or all the following duties and responsibilities.
The successful oversight of migration and operation of DHS components moving to or residing in two datacenters
Provide DHS Data Center Services (DCS) oversight at meetings with data center contractors and components –takes DHS enterprise DCS action items, resolves issues, and coordinates schedule, budget and purchase requisitions for component services
Provides a project management collaborative environment allowing information sharing between the customer, contractor, DHS and the project team members
Oversees project execution and control, risk assessment, status, presentation and project planning for the migration
Participates in schedule and cost analysis of current requirements for each phase of the migration and follow-on support for operations and maintenance with components and data center contractors
Provide ongoing recommendations and status reports for component migrations including cost, schedule, risks, and component procurement requests for data center contractor services
Work with components, data center contractors and DCS acquisition and finance team to create purchase requisitions containing statements of work, independent government cost estimates and supporting information for successful task order awards for component implementations at the data centers
Develop and maintain Data Center Services internal and external reports and schedules, including congressional responses, quad reports and program management review documents as well as other ad hoc report
Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures
Oversees/reviews technical solutions for projects
Participate in Quality Assurance Surveillance Planning (QASP) oversight activities
Position Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum Masters Degree and 8 years of professional experience
Minimum 8 years experience in Data Center or IT Project Environments
Secret Security clearance (Top Secret preferred)
Must be able to attain a Department Of Homeland Security Suitability Clearance, clearable to Top Secret
Some business travel required
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
ITIL V3 Foundation Certification preferred
- Excellent communications (written and verbal), listening, analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical, managerial, and policy issues
- Knowledge area to include project management principles and methods sufficient to plan and carry out difficult and complex studies, and recommend new approaches, solutions, and procedures; and ability to plan, organize, and direct teams
- Possesses knowledge and experience in System Life Cycle (SLC)
- Experience with Data Centers, Network, and Telecommunication Services
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in proposal writing
- Possesses knowledge and experience in CMMI, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 20000 and/or ITIL
