Job Title:
Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy & Analysis – Data Scientist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Marketing Strategy and Analysis Data Science to join our team in San Francisco. The Data Scientist we seek will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of domain experts to identify and operationalize the paths of innovation into tomorrow’s world. This innovator possesses a trifecta of expertise as an expert reviewer of external analytics offerings, a software engineer a quantitative researcher and is equally comfortable in all. We seek a hacker, entrepreneur, and artist.

Primary Responsibilities:
Offer team leadership by evaluating new offerings provided by data analytics startups
Be well versed in the practices of data exploration, analysis, and visualization
Have deep knowledge in new sources of data and techniques that will expand our team’s understanding of opportunities around insight modeling
Be a thought leader in cutting edge data analytics developments in practice and academia
Have a deep passion for understanding and envisioning the future as made possible by recent advances in data collection and interrogation
Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop hypothesizes and questions to interrogate data from a variety of sources
Analyze large, potentially unstructured, volumes of client data
Possess a collaborative approach when working with a team to develop new solutions to problems where necessary, but also to know when an existing solution will deliver what is needed
Has a strong systems orientation and deep understanding of a full data analytics stack
Senior level experience in developing best practices for instrumentation and experimentation
Ability to interpret how and or whether bleeding edge concepts can be practically applied for our clients

Experience Guidelines:
MS or PhD in relevant technical field , with a background in applied data analytics, mathematics, computer science or 4 years’ experience in relevant role
Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
Ability to engage, critique, and evaluate data analysis techniques presented by others and to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Ability to communicate visually and verbally with non-experts
Expertise with structured and unstructured database types, and analysis techniques
Familiarity with non-relational databases and NoSQL as well as relational databases and SQL.
Has worked with a data mining toolkit like WEKA, R, Mahout, etc.
Strong coding ability and familiarity with Java, C , or any other OOP language as well as fluency with scripting languages such as Python or PHP
Ability to identify appropriate statistical techniques for available data, and have a flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision
Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
Experienced in working with large data sets and/or distributed computing tools (map/reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
Design experiments to answer targeted questions. Conduct exploratory data analysis in high dimensions
Develop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation
Experience with signal processing, time series data and third party data
Strong passion for empirical research
