Essential Job Functions

Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interfaces with the user community to understand their security needs, implements procedures to accommodate those needs, and ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security.

Provides comprehensive support to protect and defend PD ALTESS networks and all attached systems by validating configurations and ensuring regulatory compliance with DoD and Army directives

Provides security architecture and design recommendations to the Enterprise Service Division in support of the migration and integration of new hosting service clients at PD ALTESS

Supports the DoD Information Assurance training and refresh training program at PD ALTESS

Uses Government-furnished security assessment software to conduct vulnerability assessment scanning when requested by PD ALTESS leadership

Supports Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts following the DIACAP Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 25-2, Information Assurance, DoD Directive 8500.1, DoD Instruction 8500.2, Public Law (P.L.) 100-235 (Computer Security Act of 1987), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-130, DoD Directive 5220.22, DoD 5220.22M and DoD 5220.22-M- Supplemental

Supports certification and accreditation documentation and testing efforts, to include development of plans, policies, and procedures and ensuring timely submission of accurate accreditation documentation

Supports achieving compliance in Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessment (IAVA) required postures using the Army approved scanning tools and reporting systems

Makes policy and procedure recommendations to the Enterprise Services Division in support of the migration and integration of new hosting service clients at PD ALTESS

Provides support to ensure PD ALTESS personnel are properly classified and certified with DoD 8570.1 IA certification program

Provides security reviews for configuration change requests and updates appropriate certification and accreditation artifacts as applicable


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor's degree in information systems security, computer science, or related field preferred

Four or more years of experience in information systems security

Experience working with company software and hardware products

Experience working with domain structures and digital signatures

Experience working with operating systems

Experience working with firewall theory and configuration

Experience working with security systems and implementation procedures

Experience with networking

Experience working with computer desktop packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

Other Qualifications

Good communication skills to interact with team members, management, and support personnel

Good analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of complex security systems

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Contract Requirements

Familiarity with and ability to support vendor technologies including (but not limited to): SUN, HP, and Dell servers and peripherals; Dell and HP workstations, thin clients, and peripherals; the latest Microsoft Windows Server Editions; the latest SUN Solaris Server Editions; SAP business management product suite; eEye Retina vulnerability management; Microsoft Office application product suite; Microsoft SCCM and SCOM server management product suite; Microsoft Sharepoint business collaboration suite; WhatsUp Gold network monitoring system; Oracle (BI, Development Tools, SOA) Suite.

Secret clearance required

Minimum Certification Requirements

IAT Level II (must have completed COMPTIA Security+ requirements)


Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent

IAM Level II
