Data Specialists are primarily based at one of KIPP DC’s school campuses. This person will be working at our new campus, which will house an Early Childhood School and an Elementary School. This position is responsible for maintaining and managing all student, teacher and organizational data at the campuses. Data Specialists are also responsible for implementing data management functions that streamline performance between the school sites and headquarters, while at the same time drafting analytical reports and presentations that will successfully mine student and teacher data and drive decision-making and instructional practices. This position will work closely with our school leaders and headquarters staff. The Data Specialists report to the Director of Data and Analytics.

• Maintain and manage student, teacher and organizational data at the campus level related to student assessment, academic, and behavioral data to inform instructional practices and organizational decisions
• Conduct analytical work on outputs from KIPP DC’s student information system, student assessments, teacher evaluations, data warehouse, and other organizational data platforms
• Develop statistical models that quantify student growth and achievement
• Use real-time data dashboards and platforms to provide rigorous analyses and support for strategic decisions at the headquarters and school levels
• Assist with the coordination and administration of school level assessments
• Draft reports on assessments, school progress, and student progress by using data tools to answer questions for key stakeholders, as requested
• Work with the data team to complete key milestone projects throughout the school year
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC’s staff , including activities like attendance to teacher/staff meetings, accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC’s mission.

• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and programming in data analysis software (i.e. R, Stata, SPSS)
• Knowledge of data reporting and dashboarding tools
• Experience with data modeling and multivariate analysis a plus
• Proven writing, communication and presentation skills
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills
• Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence, initiative, and leadership skills
• Experience in non-profit/education field a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree required
