Data/Statistical Analyst

The Data/Statistical Analyst will play a broad role within our analytic team, performing data analysis to define algorithms, creating specifications for variables to be embedded within the analytic systems developed by Humedica, and performing data quality assessments of existing algorithms. Our ideal candidate will combine a strong education in an analytic subject area with practical experience in analytical programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

Examples of the type of activities that the analyst will perform are:
  • Gain expertise in existing algorithms embedded in the Humedica MinedShare product
  • Conduct disease specific analyses that provide insight into care, resulting in algorithms that can be implemented in our product platform
Perform data manipulations on multi-table data sets to create analytic files necessary to support analyses and algorithm development

Assist in the prototyping and writing specifications of new algorithms and variables

Assist in testing new algorithms once they have been implemented by engineering
  • Use internally developed tools to test the consistency of algorithms as new health care provider groups are implemented and as existing groups are augmented over time including

Compare data for new clients to existing clients to identify data idiosyncrasies

Compare data for existing clients to previous data releases to identify differences

Conduct data analyses to investigate identified issues and work with data management, clinical informatics, and statistical analysts to resolve data quality issues.

Develop release notes that describe the results of the data quality review for use by client management team as they train and support our clients.
  • Compare the results of Natural Language Processing algorithms to snippets from initial text and provide feedback to our NLP team for algorithm enhancement

Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, economics, or health studies with a strong emphasis on mathematics and analytic methods
  • 3-5 years direct experience working with SQL including:
Experience in using SQL for developing algorithms and data manipulation

Experience analyzing large complex multi-table data sets
  • Ability to think analytically and develop approaches to generate needed metrics
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
  • Exposure to R or other statistical packages is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • A passionate interest in working with health care data
