This is a contract position

The Consulting Engineer position will be responsible for working with the company Ecosystem

Engineering Team to define and build the Ecosytem Lab, install, test, and certify the integration of

multiple company and Partner products, and engage with Professional Services teams on

customer-specific dual active integration efforts, both in Engineering Lab and Customer

environment. Successful candidates will install Teradata and Partner products in order to

successfully test and certify dual active solutions, prepare and publish Orange Books detailing

Ecosystem advocated solutions, and will assist the field with deployment of those solutions. They

will be well versed in working in and contributing to a fully agile and automated integration and

testing process.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

· Install and configure solutions in the Ecosystem Integration Lab, including installation,

and configuration of Teradata and third-party products

· Contribute to detailed project plans and lead technical project scoping and planning;

contribute to statement of work development and risk assessment as necessary

· Design, and develop test cases that verify product operation and interoperability,

including performance assessments and failover/recovery strategies. Manage and

execute complex, multi-platform test plans and procedures, simulating dual active data

warehouse environments and failure conditions

· Document test case results, including product configuration information, and solution

components/requirements to accompany a certified solution configuration

· Manage the creation of an integration and regression testing framework for testing

Ecosystem environments and related framework

· Lead resolution of inter-organizational technical issues relative to solution capabilities and

issues; report progress and escalate issues as required to Management to ensure prompt

resolution

· Mentor and train Professional Services staff in the construction of highly-available data

warehousing solutions in a hands-on lab environment

· Using expertise developed in the lab environment, support customer installation and field

deployment initiatives as necessary

· Providing recommendations/suggestions for improving testing efficiency

· Provide product usability and enhancement feedback to both TD product and partner

development teams.

This position is located in Rancho Bernardo. This fast-paced high tech environment is perfect for

travel may be required to support field implementations.

Skills & Attributes:

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communications skills, excellent analytical

skills, and the ability to plan and organize complex test programs. The successful candidate will

have the ability to lead, plan, and manage complex technical projects. The successful candidate

will have experience in data warehousing and high performance computing environments, and

have knowledge of best practices using combination of custom tools and/or commercial products.

The candidate must possess excellent written skills, as job duties will include the development of

test plans and cases, test reports, and technical documentation of solution implementation

details.

Basic Qualifications

· BS in CS or relevant, related experience

· Deep knowledge in Data Warehouse and application technologies (10+ years), including

but not limited to:

· data warehousing environments, products, and test methodologies,

· functional, integration, and regression testing,

· load and performance testing.

Preferences

· Teradata experience and/or Teradata certification strongly preferred

· Hands on experience successfully implementing Teradata’s Dual Active solutions and

products

· Deep knowledge of database technologies including but not limited to SQL queries,

scripting (BTEQ, ksh, etc.), database setup, and configuration, etc.

· Experience training software engineers in various databases and technologies

· Experience in customer-facing consulting roles, especially in data warehousing

· Experience integrating several Business Intelligence technologies in a ADW environment

· Experience with Confluence, Jira, Subversion a plus
