Responsible for planning, coordinating and administering oracle databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long and short range requirements, operational guidelines, protection and logical-physical database design.
Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
Identifies, evaluates and recommends relevant COTS software tools. Responsible for performance monitoring, database tuning, identification and correction of performance bottlenecks.
Responsible for overall database reliability and availability including database architectures, upgrades, performance, and tools and software installation and maintenance and installation of application software germane to database repositories.
Designs and develop appropriate software as needed to provide essential architectural functionality not present in COTS software solutions.
Collaborates with software engineers, security administration, Computer Operations, Network Management, and System Administrators to ensure quality and integrity of databases, application software and data.
Requires a Bachelors degree with 6 years of experience (or the equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
A candidate must have extensive experience in installation/upgrade/managing multi-terabyte Oracle Databases.
Possess extensive knowledge and practical experience with Oracle Data Guard/ASM/RMAN, database recovery and business continuity strategies as well as with Oracle homogeneous and heterogeneous replication.
Must have expertise in Oracle 9i/10g/11g, related utilities and tools like Oracle SQL*PLUS, SQL*Loader, Import/Export, Enterprise Manager and Capacity Planner.
Must have expertise in 11.1 and 11.2 RAC.
Must have proficiency of SQL and Query optimization.
A candidate must be proficient in scripting and in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Knowledge of Unix Scripting in C Shell and SQL is a plus.
Team work and self motivation skills.
This position requires the candidate to already possess an active Top Secret clearance and to maintain the clearance.
