JOB SUMMARY:
The two main functions of the Database Administrator are to provide operational database support and perform database development. As an operational function, this position will handle database availability, tuning, capacity planning and disaster recovery type activities. As a development function, this position triages, assesses, and identifies informational requirements of new or production systems, develops database specifications, and builds or maintains database storage structures and objects. The complexity, risk, size, and visibility of assignments will increase, commensurate with experience and acquired skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Support SQL Server 2008 R2 environments (clustered and non-clustered environments)
  • Code, test, implement, and modify database structures, tables, views, indexes and stored procedures to support application designs.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement optimal solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed database documentation.
  • Deploy database features and script to all environments as required
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SQL server backup and replication solutions
  • Maintain database changes using source control tools
  • Adhere to all company data standards and controls to ensure database integrity and perform data quality assurance activities.
  • Provide weekly status report that communicate the status of all individual efforts.
CANDIDATE EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years experience in Database Administration

Education - College degree in computer science or related field. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Must possess the following technical knowledge, skills and abilities:

Multi-tier distributed architecture

Web concepts and best practices, IIS or Apache, and general web-based architecture

Real-time and bulk database loading technologies

Standard database administration tools

Querying SQL Server databases

Relational and dimensional database design

Design Review, Unit Testing and Peer Review phases of project life cycle

Basic Windows administration and architecture

Experience using ETL tools such as SSIS, SAP Data Services/Data Integrator, Informatica preferred
