Develops, designs and maintains the organization’s database system including the installation, configuration, maintenance and security of database software and database structure. Determines system requirements to meet user needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Monitors availability and functionality of databases including functional capabilities, database security, data backup and recovery specifications.
Defines, maintains and reviews database structure; analyzes and recommends hardware and software configurations.
Installs, configures and maintains software.
Maintains database performance by performance tuning indexes, queries and system configuration.
Performs routine maintenance and supports database functions by monitoring and reviewing maintenance procedures.
Guides IS staff with various database related needs including mentoring on database related topics.
Coordinates, reviews and executes structural changes to support future systems projects.
Investigates problems and evaluates solutions according to best practices.
Implements, monitors and maintains established security policies for data definition and usage.
Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality under requirements of federal and state law, including HIPAA, and in accordance with Progressive Medical and/or StoneRiver Pharmacy Solutions policy.

Education, Training and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minimum of five (5) years database administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Detailed knowledge of all aspects of systems database administration in network and data security.
Able to organize work, engage in a variety of projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
Developed oral and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.

Computer skills: Database systems analysis and design skills, Microsoft Office applications.
Certifications, Licenses, registrations
Oracle and SQL Server certification.
Nature of work requires an ability to hear and communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Exchanges information and collects, compiles and prepares work documents operating standard business office equipment. Uses vision to view screens and create and review documents. Must be able to use a computer keyboard effectively.
Work performed in a general office environment. Requires sitting for long periods of time, standing, and walking; may occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to work in a busy, high-stress environment. May require flexibility to adjust work schedule during peak periods.
